Vinted Members Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
